Position: Music Teacher (Early Primary-Grade 3, Middle and High School) – Approximately 0.5 FTE

Westmont Montessori School is currently seeking an afternoon 0.25FTE Music teacher. The Music teacher will teach Music to Early Years (3 years olds), Elementary, and Middle/High School (Grade 7-12). It is highly desired that the successful applicant holds BC Teacher certification and has experience in Music instruction. The position could be split into different positions depending on the applicant’s training, experience, and/or availability.

Westmont Montessori School is a highly regarded independent Montessori school in Victoria BC, Canada offering education from preschool through grade eleven. Westmont has been a part of the community for over 60 years with our roots dating back to a small school founded in 1954. Many children and grandchildren of the original students continue to be part of the Westmont family. Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education and current BC Certification
  • Consideration also given to candidates with other qualifications related to Music instruction
  • Minimum Orff Level 1 certification
  • Experience and/or training to teach secondary school programs, specifically ensembles
  • Interest in exploring innovative ways to engage students in musical appreciation and literacy
  • Experience in teaching Zimbabwean style marimba
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented learning environment
  • Assessment literate
  • Ability to utilize varied instructional strategies to meet a wide range of individual needs and musical abilities
  • Commitment to on-going professional growth
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Strong technology and 21st Century Learning skills
